Façade Improvement Program The Callaway Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) developed the Façade Improvement Program to provide funding for qualified commercial and residential property owners within the CRA area towards exterior improvements to building facades. These are matching grants, which means the City will reimburse an applicant for half of what was spent, up to the maximum; Residential Façade Improvement Grants are up to $2,500 and Commercial Façade Improvement Grants are up to $5,000. Our mission is to provide wholesome recreational, cultural, and leisure activities for the City of Callaway residents and our visitors. In doing so, we: Make every effort to be conscious of our environment and to be good stewards by implementing best management practices, which in many ways protect our water resources and provide a safe, natural habitat for fish and wildlife. Serve to meet the recreational needs of children and adults of all ages and abilities. Take pride in applying up-to-date procedures, maintenance, and operations to provide safe, aesthetically pleasing sports fields and recreational facilities. The City of Callaway Leisure Services Department has concluded its Pre-Season Meeting with all recreational leagues. During this meeting, City staff reviewed the policies and procedures utilized by the City of Callaway, with primary emphasis on the implementation of Level 2 background screenings as mandated by Florida Statutes, effective January 1, 2026. As discussed, the City of Callaway has implemented a comprehensive Background Screening Policy applicable to all City employees and volunteers who work with or around youth, vulnerable populations, and the general public. This policy reinforces the City’s ongoing commitment to delivering safe, secure, and well-managed programs, facilities, and services to residents and visitors. Background screenings are conducted through a reputable third-party provider and are designed to promote transparency, accountability, and public trust. Please find the supporting documentation attached, including the Standard Operating Procedure for the Background Screening Policy and the Press Release, which will be distributed to local news outlets regarding the background screening requirements for employees and volunteers.
