Day.News – Drivers in Suwannee, Baker, and other impacted counties across inland Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia should exercise extreme caution this morning due to patchy dense fog. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Jacksonville has issued a Special Weather Statement, effective immediately until 8:00 AM EDT today, October 1, 2026.

Visibility may drop to as low as 1/4 mile in affected areas. Conditions are expected to slowly improve between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM EDT. The NWS warns that visibilities will vary greatly over short distances, meaning drivers could encounter rapidly changing conditions.

Motorists are advised to slow down and maintain extra distance between vehicles to allow for sudden stops. This advisory impacts residents in Suwannee, Baker, Inland Nassau, Union, Bradford, Gilchrist, Eastern Hamilton, Eastern Alachua, Western Hamilton, Western Clay, Western Alachua, Northern Columbia, Southeastern Columbia, Western Duval, and Southwestern Columbia counties in Florida. In Georgia, affected counties include Coffee, Jeff Davis, Bacon, Appling, Wayne, Atkinson, Pierce, Brantley, Inland Glynn, Echols, Clinch, Inland Camden, Northern Ware, Northeastern Charlton, and Southern Ware.
