Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Knox, Whitley Counties Until 10:30 PM

Residents in parts of Knox and Whitley Counties are advised to seek immediate shelter due to a Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Jackson, KY. The warning is in effect until 10:30 PM EDT tonight, September 21.

At 10:07 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was detected over Woodbine, located approximately 11 miles west of Barbourville. The storm is tracking east at 20 mph.

The NWS reports the primary hazards include 60 mph wind gusts and penny-sized hail. These conditions are expected to cause damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Areas specifically impacted include Bertha Station.
