Decatur residents, including Bainbridge, must take immediate action as a Tropical Storm Warning is now in effect. The National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee FL issued the warning today, October 9, at 5:17 AM EDT, effective until 1:30 PM EDT today.
Prepare for hazardous winds between 15-25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph, with potential for winds reaching 39-57 mph. Damage to unsecured property, numerous downed tree limbs, and scattered power outages are possible. Complete all outdoor preparations immediately.
A Flood Watch is also in effect. Major flooding is anticipated from an additional 3-6 inches of rain, with locally higher amounts. Evacuations and rescues are likely, and many roads may become impassable. Heed all flood watches and warnings; failure to act could result in serious injury or loss of life.
The situation is also favorable for several tornadoes, some potentially intense. Those in manufactured homes or on boats should relocate to safe shelter. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be ready to shelter quickly if a warning is issued. Significant damage, power loss, and communication failures are possible from tornadoes.
