DECATUR – A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Decatur, effective immediately, by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee, FL. This warning will remain in effect until October 9, 2026, at 7:15 AM UTC.
Residents in Decatur, specifically Bainbridge, should act now to complete preparations before hazardous conditions arrive. Anticipate winds of 15-25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph, with potential for winds reaching 39-57 mph. Prepare for limited wind damage, including to porches, awnings, sheds, and unanchored mobile homes. Expect downed tree limbs, some snapped or uprooted trees, and scattered power and communications outages.
A Flood Watch is also in effect, with an additional 3-6 inches of rain expected, locally higher. This poses a potential for major flooding, and evacuations and rescues are likely. Heed all flood watches and warnings; failure to act could result in serious injury or loss of life. Rivers and tributaries may overflow, and floodwaters could enter structures. Roads may become impassable.
Furthermore, conditions are favorable for several tornadoes, with a few possibly intense. Those in manufactured homes or on boats should relocate to safe shelter. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be ready to shelter quickly if a warning is issued. Scattered tornadoes could cause considerable damage, power loss, and communications failures.
