Muscatine Appoints New Finance Leaders

The City of Muscatine is pleased to announce the appointment of Nancy Sorgenfrey as the new Finance Director and the promotion of Melissa Sims to Assistant Finance Director. Nancy Sorgenfrey brings over 20 years of financial management experience to the City of Muscatine. Her expertise includes financial reporting, budgeting, auditing, and strategic planning. Sorgenfrey's leadership will be instrumental in ensuring the City's financial stability and responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars. Melissa Sims has been with the City of Muscatine for 15 years, serving in various roles within the Finance Department. Her dedication, knowledge, and commitment to public service have made her an invaluable asset to the City. In her new role as Assistant Finance Director, Sims will support the Finance Director in managing the City's financial operations. The appointments of Nancy Sorgenfrey and Melissa Sims are effective immediately. The City of Muscatine is confident that their leadership will strengthen the Finance Department and benefit the entire community.

PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE Muscatine County Zoning Board of Adjustment Notice is hereby given that the Muscatine County Zoning Board of Adjustment will hold a public hearing on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. in the Public Meeting Room, 215 Sycamore Street, Muscatine, Iowa, to consider the following application: Brent Grimm, 1299 135th Street, Muscatine, IA 52761, is requesting a variance to Section 5.2.3 (Front Yard Setback) of the Muscatine County Zoning Ordinance. The applicant is requesting a variance of 50 feet to allow for the placement of an accessory building 25 feet from the front property line. The property is located at 1299 135th Street, Muscatine, IA and is described as follows: Parcel #0318400007, being a part of the NW NW, Section 18, Township 77N, Range 02W, Muscatine County, Iowa. At said hearing, all interested persons may appear and be heard. Written comments may be submitted to the Zoning Office at 215 Sycamore Street, Muscatine, Iowa 52761, on or before May 9, 2024. The application and related documents are on file and available for public inspection in the Zoning Office.
