Graham's David Stegall, 71, Honored for Coast Guard Service and Family Devotion

Graham resident David Stegall, 71, passed away on September 12, 2026, in Gainesville, Florida. Stegall, a proud veteran of the United States Coast Guard and former correctional officer, was known for his love of fishing and the joy he found spending time with his grandchildren.

Stegall's life began on December 23, 1954, born to William and Barbara Stegall. As an "Army brat," he experienced frequent moves during his childhood. Approximately 25 years ago, he moved from Suwannee County to Starke, where he lived for 23 years before settling in Graham to be with family.

He found simple pleasures in life, particularly fishing. His grandchildren, Steven (Kara) Hutchins and Nicole (Ethan) Ownby, remember him fondly for giving them rides in his side-by-side and his bright orange Jeep. He also had a special fondness for apple pie.

David Stegall is survived by his grandchildren, Steven (Kara) Hutchins and Nicole (Ethan) Ownby, and great-grandchildren, Stetson, William, Waylen, Brycen Hutchins, Karson Ownby, and Masen Caswell. Private services will be held at a later date. V. Todd Ferreira Funeral Services, Starke Chapel, is handling the arrangements.
