Special Weather Statement: Strong Thunderstorms Approaching

Residents in Coffee, Jeff Davis, Bacon, Appling, Atkinson, Echols, Clinch, and Northern Ware counties should monitor weather conditions closely. The National Weather Service in Jacksonville has issued a Special Weather Statement at 1:50 PM EDT, effective until 2:45 PM EDT today, October 10.

Doppler radar indicates strong thunderstorms are currently tracking from near Graham to 10 miles west of Needmore, moving northeast at 30 mph. Hazards include the possibility of landspouts and wind gusts up to 40 mph.

Impacts could include minor damage to outdoor objects. Gusty winds may knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.

Locations that may be impacted include Douglas, Baxley, Hazlehurst, Alma, Homerville, Pearson, Graham, Argyle, Statenville, and Plant Hatch.

Monitor local radio and television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service. Be alert for rapidly changing and threatening weather conditions.
