The town of Aspen, Colorado, is situated at the base of Smuggler Mountain. Mines and mine tailings are at the base of the hill; the side of the mountain is scarred by a road that traverses across it. Main Street, Hopkins Street, Hyman Avenue, and Cooper Avenue are visible, as well as the Hotel Jerome, Wheeler Opera House, the Pitkin County Court House, and St. Mary's Catholic Church. Hallam Lake and the Roaring Fork River are in the background.
