Asheville Tourists Open Renovated HomeTrust Park
The Asheville Tourists play their season opener Friday at HomeTrust Park following a $15 million renovation that brought the 100-year-old ballpark to Major League Baseball Player Development League standards.
The City of Asheville, Buncombe County Tourism Development Authority, Buncombe County Government and the Tourists completed the McCormick Field Centennial Restoration and Capital Improvements project. The upgrades include a new video board with streaming capability, 93 LED sports light fixtures, an accessible ramp and expanded concourse. Workers renovated the home team clubhouse with new female locker rooms, weight spaces, restrooms, kitchen and dining areas. The ticketing building now houses a new team store.
The facility can host non-baseball events throughout the year.
Friday's season opener sold out. Tickets for other home games this week and future games are available at TouristsTickets.com.
