A Wind Advisory has been issued for several northern Maine counties, with gusts up to 50 mph expected on Tuesday, October 6, 2026. Residents should secure outdoor objects and exercise caution while driving.

The National Weather Service (NWS) Caribou ME issued the advisory today, October 5, 2026, at 7:33 PM EDT. The advisory is effective from 8 AM to 5 PM EDT on Tuesday, October 6, 2026.

Affected areas include Central Piscataquis, Northern Penobscot, Southeast Aroostook, Northeast Aroostook, Northwest Aroostook, Northern Somerset, and Northern Piscataquis Counties. West winds are expected to be between 20 to 30 mph, with gusts reaching up to 50 mph.

The NWS warns that gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects and bring down tree limbs, potentially leading to power outages. Strong winds will also create wind chills as low as 10 to 20 degrees on mountain tops.

Motorists, especially those operating high-profile vehicles, should be aware that strong winds can make driving difficult. Extra caution is advised. The advisory is set to expire on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at 5:00 PM EDT.
