Residents in Northwest Aroostook, Northeast Aroostook, Northern Somerset, Northern Piscataquis, Northern Penobscot, Southeast Aroostook, and Central Piscataquis counties should prepare for strong winds today, October 5.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Caribou, ME has issued a Wind Advisory, effective from 8 AM to 5 PM EDT today, Tuesday, October 5. West winds are expected to reach 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

These strong winds could make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles. The NWS advises using extra caution. Unsecured outdoor objects may be blown around, and there is a possibility of downed tree limbs and scattered power outages. Additionally, strong winds could create wind chills as low as 10 to 20 degrees on mountain tops.

The advisory is in effect for Central Piscataquis, Northern Penobscot, Southeast Aroostook, Northeast Aroostook, Northwest Aroostook, Northern Somerset, and Northern Piscataquis Counties.
