Wind Advisory Issued for Northern Maine: Gusts Up To 50 MPH Expected
A Wind Advisory is in effect for Northern Maine from 8 AM to 5 PM today, October 6, with gusts up to 50 mph expected, potentially causing power outages and difficult driving conditions, according to the National Weather Service.
Residents in Northern Maine should prepare for strong winds today, October 6. A Wind Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Caribou ME, effective from 8 AM this morning until 5 PM EDT this afternoon.
West winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph are expected. This advisory impacts Central Piscataquis, Northern Penobscot, Southeast Aroostook, Northeast Aroostook, Northwest Aroostook, Northern Somerset, and Northern Piscataquis Counties.
These gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. There is a possibility of tree limbs being blown down and a few power outages may result. Strong winds will also create wind chills as low as 10 to 20 degrees on mountain tops.
The NWS advises that winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles. Use extra caution if traveling today.
