Jeanne GeeMay 13, 1928 - April 28, 2026Oakland, CAJeanne Yet Tong Gee died peacefully on April 28, 2026 at the age of 97. She was the beloved wife of James Gee for 69 years, loving mother of Linda, Leonora, Ronald, Michael, and Lauren; devoted grandmother of Jonathan, Delanie, Lindsay, Rebecca, Alina, Rachel, and Kade; great-grandmother to Jimshi, Lila, Mathilda, Juliet, Roxanna, and Ruby; and is survived by one sister, many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. She will be greatly missed.A strong and independent woman, she ran her own business while raising five children, sponsored and supported many relatives and family, and took courses at Laney College. Retired from the Oakland Unified School District, she spent more than 20 years as a Bilingual Instructional Aide and Assistant Teacher at Franklin Elementary School. She also became a surrogate grandmother to many children. She was an active member of the SEIU union and served on many committees for the local chapter. Never one to stay idle, she enjoyed walking, exercising, and traveling.The funeral service will take place at 11:00 am on Monday, May 11, 2026 at Mountain View Cemetery, Tower Chapel, 5000 Piedmont Avenue, Oakland, CA with burial to follow.If you would like to send a message to the family, you may do so at the email address below:[email protected]
