Apopka Proclaims Florida Redevelopment Week, Recognizing Community Revitalization Efforts

Apopka Mayor Nicholas L. Nesta, III proclaimed September 14-18 as Florida Redevelopment Week, issuing the proclamation during the Apopka City Commission Meeting on September 16, 2026. The proclamation highlighted the vital role of Community Redevelopment Agencies (CRAs) in revitalizing neighborhoods, addressing blight, strengthening local economies, and improving the quality of life for residents and businesses in Apopka and across Florida.

Redevelopment initiatives in Apopka, like those throughout the state, encourage private investment, support small businesses, improve infrastructure, enhance public spaces, and expand housing opportunities. These efforts foster vibrant, resilient, and equitable communities.

The Florida Redevelopment Association (FRA) works with municipalities, counties, and community stakeholders to promote best practices, professional education, and collaboration in advancing community redevelopment efforts. Florida Redevelopment Week served as an opportunity to recognize achievements, highlight transformational projects, and engage residents and stakeholders.

The observance aimed to raise awareness of community redevelopment's importance and inspire continued public and private investment in Florida’s neighborhoods, downtowns, and commercial corridors. Through its participation, Apopka demonstrated its commitment to these revitalization efforts.
