A Wind Advisory has been issued for all of central and northern Arizona, effective until 8:00 PM MST today, October 11, 2026. Residents are advised to secure loose outdoor objects and exercise extreme caution when driving, particularly those in high-profile vehicles.
The National Weather Service in Flagstaff, AZ, issued the advisory at 11:08 AM MST. South winds are expected to reach speeds of 25 to 35 mph, with gusts up to 45 to 55 mph. Locally higher gusts exceeding 60 mph are possible. This affects the Kaibab Plateau, Marble and Glen Canyons, Grand Canyon Country, Coconino Plateau, Yavapai County Mountains, Northeast Plateaus and Mesas Hwy 264 Northward, Chinle Valley, Chuska Mountains and Defiance Plateau, Little Colorado River Valley in Coconino, Navajo, and Apache Counties, Western Mogollon Rim, Eastern Mogollon Rim, White Mountains, Northern Gila County, Yavapai County Valleys and Basins, Oak Creek and Sycamore Canyons, Black Mesa Area, and Northeast Plateaus and Mesas South of Hwy 264.
Gusty winds may blow around unsecured objects, and tree limbs could snap, potentially leading to power outages. Travel will be difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles such as RVs, campers, and tractor trailers. Winds this strong can make driving hazardous. Secure any outdoor items that could be damaged or blown away by the wind.
