Wind Advisory Issued for All of Central and Northern Arizona
A Wind Advisory is in effect for all of central and northern Arizona until 8:00 PM MST tonight, with south winds expected between 25-35 mph and gusts up to 55 mph, impacting travel and potentially causing power outages.
A Wind Advisory has been issued for all of central and northern Arizona, effective immediately until 8:00 PM MST this evening, October 11.
The National Weather Service Flagstaff AZ reports south winds are expected to reach 25 to 35 mph, with gusts up to 45 to 55 mph. These conditions can make driving difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles such as RVs, campers, and tractor trailers. Motorists are advised to use extra caution.
The affected areas include the Kaibab Plateau, Marble and Glen Canyons, Grand Canyon Country, Coconino Plateau, Yavapai County Mountains, Northeast Plateaus and Mesas (including Hwy 264 Northward), Chinle Valley, Chuska Mountains and Defiance Plateau, Little Colorado River Valley in Coconino, Navajo, and Apache Counties, Western and Eastern Mogollon Rim, White Mountains, Northern Gila County, Yavapai County Valleys and Basins, Oak Creek and Sycamore Canyons, Black Mesa Area, and Northeast Plateaus and Mesas South of Hwy 264.
Gusty winds may blow around unsecured objects and could lead to snapping tree limbs, potentially causing power outages. Residents are urged to secure loose outdoor objects that could be moved or damaged by the wind.
