The National Weather Service in Des Moines issued the warning at 10:34 PM CDT. At 10:33 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was detected near Badger Creek State Park, approximately 5 miles southwest of West Des Moines, moving southeast at 35 mph.
The primary hazard associated with this storm is quarter-size hail, which is expected to cause damage to vehicles. The warning is based on radar indications.
Locations impacted include Des Moines, West Des Moines, Clive, Indianola, Norwalk, Windsor Heights, Carlisle, Pleasantville, and other communities. This warning also covers portions of Interstate 35, Interstate 80, and Interstate 235. The warning expires at 11:30 PM CDT.
