Extreme Heat Warning, Wind Advisory Issued for Orange County Inland
Orange County Inland faces an Extreme Heat Warning until Oct 8 with temperatures up to 105°F, and a Wind Advisory until Oct 3 with gusts up to 35 mph, prompting NWS San Diego to urge fluid intake, air conditioning, and caution for unsecured objects and driving.
Residents in Orange County Inland areas are advised to take immediate precautions as the National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego has issued an Extreme Heat Warning and a Wind Advisory.
The Extreme Heat Warning is in effect until 8 PM PDT on Thursday, October 8. Dangerously hot conditions are expected, with high temperatures ranging from the mid-90s to 105 degrees Fahrenheit. Overnight lows are anticipated to remain warm, in the 70s. The NWS warns that heat-related illnesses increase significantly during such extreme heat events.
In addition, a Wind Advisory is in effect until 6 PM PDT today, October 3. East winds of 15 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 35 mph, are expected. These gusty winds can blow around unsecured objects, potentially bringing down tree limbs and causing power outages. Driving may be difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles.
To ensure safety, the NWS advises residents to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, and stay out of the sun. Check on relatives and neighbors, and never leave young children or pets in unattended vehicles, as car interiors can reach lethal temperatures quickly.
