Residents in Orange County Inland areas are advised to take immediate precautions as the National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego has issued an Extreme Heat Warning. This warning is effective immediately, beginning October 4 at 11:32 AM PDT, and will remain in effect until Thursday, October 8 at 8:00 PM PDT.
Dangerously hot conditions are expected, with high temperatures ranging from the mid-90s to 103 degrees Fahrenheit. Overnight lows will also be warm, staying in the 70s. These conditions significantly increase the risk of heat-related illnesses.
To protect yourself and your community, the NWS recommends drinking plenty of fluids, staying in air-conditioned rooms, and avoiding direct sun exposure. Please check on relatives and neighbors, especially those who may be vulnerable. It is crucial to remember that young children and pets should never be left in unattended vehicles, as interior temperatures can become lethal very quickly.
The NWS also advises extra caution for drivers, particularly those in high-profile vehicles, as strong winds can make driving difficult. Stay informed and prioritize your safety during this extreme heat event.
