An Extreme Heat Warning has been issued for Orange County Inland areas, effective immediately. The National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego has forecast dangerously hot conditions from October 5 at 11:29 AM PDT until October 8 at 8:00 PM PDT.
Residents are advised to take immediate precautions to prevent heat-related illnesses. High temperatures are expected to reach the upper 90s to 103 degrees Fahrenheit. Overnight lows will remain very warm, in the lower to mid 70s.
To stay safe, drink plenty of fluids, seek air-conditioned environments, and stay out of direct sunlight. Check on elderly relatives and neighbors who may be vulnerable to the heat. Crucially, never leave young children or pets in unattended vehicles, as interior temperatures can become lethal within minutes.
The NWS also notes that strong winds associated with this event can make driving difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles. Exercise extra caution on the roads.
