Residents in Orange County coastal areas are advised to take immediate precautions as an Extreme Heat Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego CA. This warning is in effect from October 5 at 8:55 PM PDT until October 8 at 8:00 PM PDT.

Dangerously hot conditions are expected, with high temperatures ranging from the mid-80s to lower 90s directly at the beaches. Areas near higher coastal terrain could experience temperatures in the mid to upper 90s. Nights will offer little relief, with very warm low temperatures in the lower to mid-70s.

The NWS warns that heat-related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events. To stay safe, residents should drink plenty of fluids, remain in air-conditioned rooms, and stay out of the sun. It is also crucial to check on relatives and neighbors, especially those who may be vulnerable.

Under no circumstances should young children or pets be left in unattended vehicles. Car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes, posing a severe danger.
