Cook Forest State Park Hosts Free Bat and Moth Survey (Regional)
COOKSBURG, Pa. (EYT) — Scientists will lead a free program at Cook Forest State Park on June 12 to teach attendees about nighttime animals and conduct a population survey of bats and moths along Tom’s Run. The event begins at 8:30 p.m. at Shelter 2. The shelter sits upstream at the Forest Road bridge across from the Log Cabin Environmental Centre. The Pennsylvania Game Commission, the Pennsylvania Bureau of Forestry and the Cook Forest Conservancy sponsor the program. Participants will help scientists count the animals. Visitors should bring a light and a refillable water bottle. Organizers recommend headlamps with a red or green night vision filter. Children can color bat and moth masks at the shelter. The program is free. Participants do not need to register. Organizers will hold the event in rain or clear weather.
