Born and raised in Buras, LA, Emily graduated from Delta Heritage High School in 1969. After meeting and marrying the love of her life, Emily and Mike moved to Lafayette, LA for Mike's work. They have made Lafayette their home these past 53 years, raising their sons, welcoming grandchildren, and making friends along the way. Known as “Nana” to her granddaughters and “Emmie” to her nieces and nephews, she cherished every conversation and never met a stranger. She especially enjoyed spending time at her shop in the Sunset Antique Market alongside her sister Carolyn, where she loved "chit-chatting" with everyone who came through the door! Emily’s gentle spirit, genuine kindness, and joyful nature touched countless lives. She leaves behind cherished memories and a lasting reminder to greet others with warmth, compassion, and a smile. She is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, Michael "Mike" Albert Clayton; sons, David E. (Aura) Clayton and Thomas A. (Erica) Clayton; granddaughters, Elizabeth Grace and Emma Lou Clayton; and sisters, June Y. Perlander and Carolyn Yuratich. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emile & Rose Yuratich; sister, Sylvia Y.
