A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for Tallapoosa County, including Alexander City and Dadeville, effective immediately. The National Weather Service in Birmingham, AL, issued the watch today, October 8, at 4:07 PM CDT. This alert is set to expire on October 9, 2026, at 12:15 AM UTC.

Residents should prepare for hazardous wind conditions, with peak gusts potentially reaching 45 mph. Efforts to protect property should be underway now. Moderate rainfall flooding is also anticipated, with 1-3 inches of rain possible, and a Flood Watch is in effect. Emergency plans should include the potential for moderate flooding; residents in flood-vulnerable areas should consider protective actions. There is also a potential for several tornadoes, some possibly intense. Those in manufactured homes or on boats should prepare to relocate to safe shelter.
