A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for Dougherty County, including Albany, by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee FL, effective today, October 9, 2026, at 8:28 AM EDT. Residents are urged to complete preparations immediately as hazardous conditions are anticipated.

Wind gusts up to 40 mph are expected, with potential for sustained winds of 39 to 57 mph. Damage to awnings, carports, and unanchored mobile homes is possible, along with downed tree limbs and scattered power outages. Efforts to protect property should be underway.

A Flood Watch is also in effect, with an additional 3-6 inches of rain expected, leading to potential moderate flooding. Rivers may overflow, and roads could become impassable. Heed all flood watches and warnings; evacuations and rescues are possible in vulnerable areas.

The situation is also favorable for several tornadoes, some potentially intense. Those in manufactured homes or on boats should prepare to relocate to safe shelter. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be ready to shelter quickly. The Tropical Storm Watch is set to expire at 4:30 PM UTC (12:30 PM EDT) today.
