Treasurer's Deed in Alamosa County: How to Apply

How to Apply for a Treasurer's Deed in Alamosa County

Alamosa County residents can apply for a Treasurer's Deed by submitting a completed application and $1,200 fee to the county Treasurer's office at 8999 Independence Way STE 104, Alamosa, CO 81101, attention Stephanie Wright.

The process takes six to nine months. The county advertises the property after completing a title search and certified mailings, then holds an auction 120 days later if the owner does not redeem the certificate by the execution date.

A Treasurer's Deed results in an unmarketable title for at least seven years. Property owners may transfer the property to another person but cannot guarantee clear title.

If someone redeems the certificate before the deed issues, the applicant receives their investment, interest, and application fee. After an auction, applicants get their investment, interest, and application fee back, or they may take ownership of the property for the auction purchase price. Premium bids do not qualify for redemption, and no interest accrues on the application fee.

Applicants must endorse all current taxes and junior tax liens with their Treasurer's Deed application. Contact the Treasurer's office at 719-589-3626 for questions. The county can postpone auctions for good cause before bidding begins.
