Alamosa County Declares May 2026 Building Safety Month
The Alamosa Board of County Commissioners proclaimed May 2026 as Building Safety Month, recognizing building officials, architects, engineers, and tradespeople who ensure safe construction across the county.
The proclamation aligns with a national initiative by the International Code Council, a nonprofit that develops building codes for local, state, and federal governments. Alamosa County adopted the 2018 edition of building codes, which address natural disasters including windstorms, snowstorms, tornadoes, wildland fires, floods, and earthquakes.
This year's theme, "Built to Last," focuses on sustainable construction, career opportunities in building safety, disaster mitigation, energy conservation, and water supply management. The county encourages residents to participate in Building Safety Month activities throughout May 2026.
