**Special Weather Statement issued September 23 at 4:31PM MST by NWS Flagstaff AZ**

At 431 PM MST, Doppler radar was tracking a line of strong thunderstorms extending from 8 miles west of Castle Hot Springs to Black Canyon City to 10 miles northwest of Sunset Mountain, moving southeast at 10 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and penny size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible.

Locations impacted include... Castle Hot Springs, Coles Bay, Humbug Bay, Goose Bay, Castle Creek Boat Ramp, Cottonwood Day Use Area, Lake Pleasant, Black Canyon City, Agua Fria National Monument, Humbug, Casa Rosa and Rock Springs.

This includes Interstate 17 between mile markers 242 and 246.

This includes the following recreation areas and campgrounds... Black Canyon Campground.

Monitor the weather situation closely and be alert for threatening weather conditions.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.

If on or near the north portions of Lake Pleasant, get out of the water and move indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 10 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now! Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
