The fund, established through prior community donations, is working in partnership with Catholic Charities Serving Central Washington to ensure aid reaches those most in need.
The recent wildfires, which affected the Beverly-Schawana and White Swan regions within the Diocese, prompted the immediate release of these funds. Catholic Charities Serving Central Washington is on the ground, coordinating efforts to distribute assistance effectively.
To ensure the fund can address ongoing and future needs, the Diocese of Yakima held a second collection in all its parishes over Labor Day weekend. This initiative aims to replenish the resources available for wildfire victims.
Donations to the Wildfire Relief Fund can still be made by mail. Checks should be made payable to the Wildfire Relief Fund and sent to the Diocese of Yakima, PO Box 2189, Yakima, WA 98907-2189.
