Freeze Watch for Kittitas Valley: Protect Plants Now
A Freeze Watch has been issued for the Kittitas Valley from this evening through Tuesday morning, with temperatures as low as 34 degrees Fahrenheit possible; residents should protect sensitive plants and outdoor plumbing now.
Residents in the Kittitas Valley should take immediate steps to protect sensitive outdoor plants from freezing temperatures. The National Weather Service (NWS) Pendleton OR has issued a Freeze Watch effective from this evening through Tuesday morning, October 13, at 9:00 AM PDT.
Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 34 degrees Fahrenheit are possible during this period. The NWS advises that frost and freeze conditions could kill crops and other sensitive vegetation, and potentially damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.
Currently, a Freeze Warning is in effect for the Kittitas Valley until 9:00 AM PDT this morning, with sub-freezing temperatures as low as 29 degrees expected. The Freeze Watch will follow as temperatures drop again overnight.
To prevent damage, cover or bring indoors any tender plants. Ensure outdoor plumbing that is vulnerable to freezing is insulated or drained.
