Residents in the Simcoe Highlands are advised to take immediate action to protect sensitive vegetation and outdoor plumbing as a Freeze Warning is in effect until 9:00 AM PDT this morning, October 13.
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Pendleton, OR, issued the warning at 10:48 PM PDT on October 12. Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 31 degrees Fahrenheit are expected in the Simcoe Highlands during this period.
These conditions could result in the death of crops and other tender plants. Unprotected outdoor plumbing may also be damaged. The NWS strongly advises taking steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. Checking and draining outdoor hoses and spigots is also recommended to prevent freezing and bursting pipes.
