Fairborn Water Rates Increase 14% Starting April 2024
Fairborn City Council approved a 14% water rate increase on March 16, raising the cost from $3.66 to $4.17 per 100 cubic feet of usage. The increase took effect April 16.
City Manager Mike Gebhart said the adjustment covers system maintenance, operational costs, and infrastructure needs. "Even with the approved increase, Fairborn's water rates will remain competitive with surrounding communities and continue to be among the lower rates in the region," Gebhart said.
The rate change affects neighborhoods differently. A typical family of four using 9,000 to 12,000 gallons monthly will see increases ranging from $2.50 to $5.49 per month, depending on location. Residents in Mitman Park and Rona Hills face increases of about $3.05, while Channing Way and Dayton Yellow Springs neighborhoods will see the highest impact at approximately $5.49 monthly.
Sewer and trash collection rates remain unchanged through 2026. Only water charges will increase.
