Fairborn Wins GFOA Award for Financial Reporting
The City of Fairborn earned the Government Finance Officers Association Award of Excellence for its annual financial report, joining a select group of local governments recognized for transparency in public finance.
The GFOA evaluates submissions on clarity, completeness, and adherence to governmental accounting standards. Finance Director Hilary Browning said the award reflects her department's commitment to producing reports that residents can understand. "Our goal is to provide financial reports that are technically sound and transparent," Browning said.
City Manager Mike Gebhart said strong financial reporting supports informed decision-making. "Accurate and transparent financial reporting maintains residents' confidence and ensures we make sustainable decisions for Fairborn's future," Gebhart said.
The award resulted from collaboration across city departments and investments in financial management practices, officials said.
