Strong Storm Near Woodbury: Seek Shelter if Outdoors

A Special Weather Statement is in effect for parts of Wilson and Cannon counties until 10:15 PM CDT, warning of a strong thunderstorm with 40 mph winds and half-inch hail; seek shelter if outdoors.

A Special Weather Statement has been issued for parts of Wilson and Cannon counties by the National Weather Service in Nashville, TN. This statement is effective immediately, from 9:50 PM CDT on September 21, 2026, and expires at 10:15 PM CDT.

A strong thunderstorm was detected by Doppler radar at 9:50 PM CDT, located approximately 8 miles north of Woodbury. The storm is currently moving north at 5 mph.

Hazards associated with this storm include wind gusts up to 40 mph and hail up to half an inch in size. The National Weather Service indicates that these conditions could lead to gusty winds knocking down tree limbs and blowing around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is also possible.

Locations that may be impacted include Auburntown. If you are outdoors in the affected areas, consider seeking shelter inside a building for your safety during this time.
