Residents in Meigs, Mason, Jackson, Wood, and Wirt counties are advised to exercise caution as a Special Weather Statement has been issued for expected heavy rain. The National Weather Service (NWS) Charleston WV warns that heavy rainfall may lead to ponding of water on roadways and localized flooding in low-lying areas.

The alert is effective immediately, issued today, October 11, 2026, at 6:35 PM EDT, and is set to expire at 7:30 PM EDT. Areas specifically impacted include Point Pleasant, Racine, Forked Run State Park, Ravenswood, New Haven, Sandyville, Syracuse, Hartford City, Cheshire, Portland, Mount Alto, Lakin, Belleville, Reedsville, Cottageville, Morristown, Rockport, and Letart. This also includes Interstate 77 in West Virginia between mile markers 142 and 169.

ACTIONABLE INFORMATION: Do not drive your vehicle into areas where water covers the roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross safely. If you encounter flooded roads, move to higher ground immediately.
