A Haverford College professor faces charges of online harassment and intimidation, the school's president announced Tuesday. The allegations extend beyond the college's campus.
Guangtian Ha, a religion professor at the Pennsylvania institution, is on administrative leave and barred from campus during legal proceedings. Haverford College President Wendy Raymond stated the school contacted individuals targeted by what she described as antisemitic online attacks.
An indictment filed Sept. 30 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania alleges Ha sent approximately 50 messages to a victim between Oct. 9, 2025, and May 20, 2026. The messages, sent from at least four different X accounts, contained threatening, antisemitic language, according to the indictment.
Ha was on sabbatical and not actively teaching this academic year. Raymond expressed distress over the allegations, calling harassment or discrimination based on identity unacceptable and contrary to college values. Raymond noted the harm of these accusations occurring near the Jewish High Holidays and the third anniversary of the Oct. 7 attacks.
