Eight Injured, Two Critically, in Saturday Sanford Shooting at Social Gathering

Eight people sustained injuries, with two remaining in critical condition, following a shooting that occurred Saturday night at a social gathering in Sanford. The incident took place near Poplar Avenue and Ninth Street.

Sanford Police Department has not yet identified any suspects, and the investigation remains active and ongoing. Officer Nicole Brown, the Sanford Police Public Information Officer, stated that the incident was isolated and poses no ongoing threat to the community.

The number of victims rose to eight yesterday, September 20, after initial reports indicated six individuals were shot. Officer Brown confirmed yesterday that the shooting happened during a social gathering on Saturday evening. She also noted that authorities are unsure if one or multiple shooters were involved.

The Sanford Police Department will hold a briefing at Coastline Park later this evening to share further details of the investigation.
