12 Charged with Murder in Claiborne County Deputy's Death

WINTER PARK, Miss. – Twelve individuals face first-degree murder charges in the fatal shooting of Claiborne County Deputy Terrian Bailey. Authorities also announced Friday that all 12 suspects are charged with aggravated assault and conspiracy to commit murder.

The Mississippi Department of Public Safety confirmed the charges. Deputy Bailey responded to a large crowd at a convenience store in Hermanville shortly after midnight Sept. 7 when gunfire erupted. He was struck and later died at a hospital. A female bystander sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

“Today's arrests reflect the determination and collaboration of law enforcement at every level to pursue justice for Deputy Bailey, his family and the community he served,” Mississippi Department of Public Safety Commissioner Sean Tindell stated.

The suspects range in age from 18 to 26. The department did not release further details about the case or identify any alleged shooters. The arrests resulted from a multi-agency effort, including the FBI and the U.S. Marshals Service.

Deputy Bailey served the Claiborne Sheriff's Office for six years. He is survived by his wife and children.

Claiborne County Sheriff Edward Goods Sr. thanked “every investigator, agent, officer, deputy, dispatcher, and individual who has worked tirelessly on this case.” He also expressed gratitude to “the citizens who have provided information, videos, tips, prayers, and support,” emphasizing their continued cooperation remains important.

The FBI offered a reward of up to $25,000 for information related to the case. The investigation is ongoing.
