Betty Anne Burke, 94, a former Orlando and Winter Garden resident, died Oct. 1, 2026, in Shallotte, North Carolina. A memorial service is scheduled for Oct. 10, 2026.

Betty Anne Burke, 94, a former Orlando resident who grew up in Winter Garden, died Oct. 1, 2026, in Shallotte, North Carolina. She was born in Orlando on Dec. 11, 1931, to Everett and Ann Hodge Eldridge.
Burke was preceded in death by her husbands, Jabe Sherertz and Jack Burke, and her children, Patti Doyle and Gary Sherertz. She also lost four brothers: Pat, Homer, Gene and Ray.
She is survived by her son, Gregory Sherertz, and his wife, Sherri, of Key West, Florida. Her grandchildren are Nicole Blevins, Shawna Heard, Anthony Doyle and Jodi Krous. Jodi Krous is married to Warren Krous. She also leaves nine great-grandchildren: Arieon Blevins, Kapri Whibbey, Savannah Heard, Aspen Heard, Brynna Doyle, Maeve Doyle, Maggie Krous, Andrew Krous and Thomas Krous.
Burke attended Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Supply, North Carolina. She volunteered for 15 years with the Moose Lodge and with Meals on Wheels through the Brunswick County Senior Resource Center.
She grew up on a farm and was an avid gardener. While living in Bryson City, North Carolina, she owned and operated a travel agency. She enjoyed playing Yahtzee.
A visitation will be held from 2 to 2:45 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026, at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Supply, North Carolina. A memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. at the church. The Rev. Allen Murray will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church or the Shallotte Moose Lodge.
