The moral test: Conserving creation and the 2026 election | Column
I found great joy recently in the announcement from the Catholic Church that environmental destruction is now considered a sin against creation and the Creator. This evolving philosophy extends and deepens Pope Leo’s earlier lessons and teachings on “ecological sin” to the broader and more holistic “sin against creation and against the Creator.” These thoughtful, heartfelt and urgent words capture the Pontiff’s expanding focus on the Catholic Chu…

Ladies, what to wear to the gym to please men | Column
I’m an avid gymgoer and hobby powerlifter. I top out at 5 feet tall and look as threatening as a Monchhichi in a baby bib, so a passerby might not realize my bench press is 110 pounds, squat 170, deadlift 195. Ghosts? Fun! Zombies? Bring them on! Haunted houses? We’ll take two tickets. But this Halloween, there is something genuinely frightening we should talk about. Every day, animals are transported into slaughterhouses most of us will never see. What happens inside is kept far away from grocery stores, restaurant menus and cheerful food packaging. We even use comfortable words like […] The post Letter to the Editor: Help save animals this Halloween…
