Residents in Randolph and Henry counties should seek shelter indoors immediately due to a strong thunderstorm. The National Weather Service (NWS) Indianapolis has issued a Special Weather Statement, effective until 6:45 PM EDT today, September 20, 2026.

At 5:57 PM EDT, Doppler radar detected a strong thunderstorm over New Castle, moving east at 15 mph. This storm is expected to bring winds in excess of 40 mph and half-inch hail.

Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include New Castle, Mooreland, Losantville, Cadiz, and Greensboro. This also includes Interstate 70 between mile markers 121 and 133.

If you are outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a sturdy building until the statement expires.
