Trey Songz Settlement Funds Frozen in Miami Court

A Miami-Dade court has rejected a Wimauma resident's bid to access settlement funds from a legal case involving R&B singer Trey Songz. The money remains frozen in a court-controlled escrow account due to an ongoing dispute over a lien placed on the funds.

Jauhara Jeffries, who brought the lawsuit against the singer, born Tremaine Neverson, had asked the court to release 55% of the settlement or any amount exceeding $69,950.52. Jeffries stated the delay prevents her from moving forward. A judge has scheduled a hearing for later this month to address the matter, according to court documents.

The settlement was reached before a trial set to begin in fall 2025. Jeffries accused Neverson of sexual assault at E11EVEN Miami during a New Year's celebration on Jan. 1, 2018. Neverson denies the accusations. A judge dismissed the case following the confidential settlement, but the court retained authority to enforce the agreement's terms.

A third party has placed a lien on the settlement money, a legal claim used to secure payment for a debt owed by the plaintiff. The court typically freezes settlement funds until these financial obligations are resolved.
