Wimauma rapper Kodak Black released a remix of his song "Lil Birdie" on Wednesday, Sept. 30. The new version features original melodies and lyrics from Black over the beat of Drake's "Little Birdie," a response to months of fan comparisons between the two artists' styles.
The original "Lil Birdie" track arrived Sept. 30. Listeners noted similarities in cadence and voice to Drake's earlier work, according to Complex. Black opens his remix with the line, "One monkey/Two monkey/I don't know if they payin' homage, either way I'm in their pocket," acknowledging the comparisons while asserting his presence.
While Black maintained the original flow, he introduced new vocal melodies, distinguishing his performance. A self-directed music video accompanied the release, featuring nighttime shots of Black performing under a shelter with ducks nearby.
This release continues a trend between the two artists. Black has previously mentioned that he and Drake have unreleased tracks together. Fan demand for the remix grew after Drake's version became popular earlier in 2026, with many curious to hear Black's interpretation of the beat.
