Flagler Beach Fire Dept: Battery Disposal Fire Safety

Staff Writer
June 1, 2026

FLAGLER BEACH, FL — The Fire Department warned residents June 1 that improperly discarded batteries pose a major fire risk at waste and recycling facilities.

Damaged batteries can ignite inside collection trucks or processing plants, causing fires that damage equipment, disrupt services and endanger workers. The department urged residents to remove all batteries from household trash and recycling bins before collection.

Residents can drop off batteries at nearby facilities through Call2Recycle's locator tool at https://www.call2recycle.org/locator/.
