Flag Information | Executive Office of the Governor Skip to main content Flag Information Pursuant to 4 U.S.C. § 1, et seq, the Governor has adopted a protocol for displaying the National and State Flags. Consistent with this protocol, the Governor will, on rare and solemn occasions, direct the flags to be lowered to half-staff. Sumter County Fire Rescue (SCFR) is proud to announce the addition of Rescue 31 to its fleet. Rescue 31 will serve the citizens of Sumter County and will be stationed at Station 31. This rescue will enhance the department’s ability to respond to vehicle accidents, technical rescues, medical calls, and other emergencies. Rescue 31 is equipped with state-of-the-art tools and equipment and is staffed by highly trained firefighters and paramedics.

Lady Lake resident, Robert "Bob" E. Towsley, passes away at 74

Robert "Bob" E. Towsley October 29, 1949 - May 21, 2024 Robert "Bob" E. Towsley, 74, of Lady Lake, Florida, passed away on May 21, 2024. He was born in Niagara Falls, New York on October 29, 1949. He was married to Sherry L. Towsley on June 17, 1972. He worked as a Mill Wright and was a member of the U.A.W Local 686. He had a passion for classic cars and fishing. He is survived by his Wife Sherry L. Towsley, Daughters Nicole (John) Stoltman, and Michele (Brian) Schultz, Grandchildren, Nicholas and Nathan Stoltman, and Blake and Bryce Schultz. He is also survived by his Sister Patricia Gagliardi. He is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Betty Towsley, and Sister Diane Powley. A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Dignity Memorial Life Celebration Center, 7134 Powell Road, Wildwood, FL at 1:00pm
