A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Wilcox County, effective immediately, by the National Weather Service (NWS) Mobile AL. This severe alert, issued at 9:57 PM CDT on October 8, affects Camden and Pine Hill, with dangerous conditions expected from Friday evening until early Saturday morning.
Residents should complete all preparations for significant wind damage now. Peak wind gusts of up to 70 mph are anticipated, threatening substantial damage to property, including roofing, siding, and mobile homes. Unsecured items will become dangerous projectiles. Move to safe shelter before hazardous winds begin.
A Flood Watch is also in effect. Expect 2-4 inches of rain, with localized higher amounts, leading to potential major flooding. Evacuations and rescues are likely. Heed all flood watches and warnings; failure to act could result in serious injury or loss of life. Rivers and small streams may overflow, and many roads could become impassable.
There is also a potential for a few tornadoes. If a tornado warning is issued, be ready to shelter quickly. Tornadoes can hinder emergency plans and cause localized damage and power outages.
The Tropical Storm Warning expires at 6:00 AM UTC on October 9, 2026. For local information, contact Wilcox County EMA at 334-682-4911. For storm impacts, visit www.weather.gov/mob.
