Special Weather Statement: Strong Thunderstorms Approaching Perry, Greene, Stone, George Counties

Strong thunderstorms with wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea-sized hail are expected in Perry, Greene, Stone, and George counties until 9:00 PM CDT. Seek shelter if outdoors.

Residents in Perry, Greene, Stone, and George counties should be aware of strong thunderstorms currently tracking south at 25 mph. The National Weather Service in Mobile, AL issued a Special Weather Statement at 8:11 PM CDT on September 21st, effective until 9:00 PM CDT.

Doppler radar indicates wind gusts up to 40 to 50 mph and pea-sized hail are possible with these storms. Locations expected to be impacted include Wiggins, Beaumont, New Augusta, and McLain.

Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects, and minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. If you are outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building for your safety. This alert is based on radar indications.
