Freeze Watch Issued for Simcoe Highlands: Protect Plants Now
A Freeze Watch has been issued for the Simcoe Highlands from this evening until Tuesday morning, with temperatures as low as 30 degrees Fahrenheit possible, prompting an urgent need to protect sensitive plants and outdoor plumbing.
Residents in the Simcoe Highlands should take immediate steps to protect sensitive plants from freezing temperatures expected to begin this evening and last through Tuesday morning. The National Weather Service (NWS) Pendleton has issued a Freeze Watch, effective from this evening, October 12, until 9:00 AM PDT on October 13.
Sub-freezing temperatures, potentially as low as 30 degrees Fahrenheit, are possible in the Simcoe Highlands. These conditions could be detrimental to crops and other tender vegetation. There is also a risk of damage to unprotected outdoor plumbing.
The NWS advises taking action now to cover or bring indoors any vulnerable plants. Ensure outdoor pipes are adequately insulated to prevent damage.
