Milton Township Awards $1.3M Mental Health Grants, Zero Debt
Milton Township officials reported $1.3 million in mental health grants and zero debt at their annual meeting Tuesday at the Wheaton Community Center.
The township's Community Mental Health Board distributed the grants to neighboring mental health programs. The Community Emergency Response Team saved DuPage County $333,165 through volunteer work. The Food Pantry served more than 13,000 people and the township provided $120,000 to residents facing financial hardship.
Supervisor Elizabeth Higgins-Beard said the township completed overdue audits and implemented transparency measures including board meeting videos on the township website and regular publication of meeting packets with financial records.
The township launched a new website and mobile app for service information. The Food Pantry expanded hours.
Milton Township includes most of Glen Ellyn and Wheaton, plus parts of Carol Stream, Downers Grove, Glendale Heights, Lisle, Lombard, Naperville, and Winfield.
The board includes Trustees Larry Pitts, Paula McGowen, Stephen Siemer, and Jacqueline McGrath, along with Higgins-Beard. Assessor Chris E. LeVan and Highway Commissioner Michael H. Drew also serve the township.
